Wassenaar is home to Castle de Wittenburg on a large estate. The castle is located in an authentic, monumental building which dates back to 1899. Kasteel de Wittenburg has original architectural features, such as beautiful large windows and fireplaces, and are elegantly furnished with parquet floors. The building was built by Jonkheer Helenus Marius Speelman.
The 10 stylish castle rooms each have a private atmosphere, excellent bathroom, air conditioning and views of the park-like estate. We would like to make you aware that you are staying in a listed building. The castle rooms are somewhat noisy. In addition, we would like to mention here that bringing pets is not allowed.

You can enjoy breakfast in our restaurant Sophie, consisting of freshly baked breads, fresh toppings, scrambled eggs, yogurt and fresh fruit.
Restaurant Sophie
An attractive restaurant is located in the basement. Restaurant Sophie features contemporary traditional French cuisine with a nod to Asian cuisine. The restaurant is named after Sophie Adriënne Baronesse Sloet of Old-Ruitenborgh, wife of Mr. Speelman.

From bus stop Het Kerkehout you will see a tunnel on your right, go through it then turn right, walk about 50 meters (towards The Hague) and turn left (at the height of two white pillars) into the forest path, follow the forest path and you will arrive at Kasteel de Wittenburg.
From bus stop Beukenhorstlaan turn right into Bloemcamplaan and continue straight ahead on the footpath between the houses, this footpath connects to the driveway of Kasteel de Wittenburg.
Route by car
- Take the N44 in the direction of Wassenaar.
- At the fourth traffic light, turn right on the Wassenaar Zuid exit onto van der Oudemeulenlaan.
- At the end of the avenue, turn left onto Stoeplaan.
- In this avenue, turn left immediately in the bend to Bloemcamplaan.
- The castle is located between house numbers 55 and 57 on Landgoed de Wittenburg 1.
- At the end of the A12 (Utrechtse Baan) turn right towards Wassenaar to the Rijksstraatweg.
- After the viaduct and Motel de Bijhorst (v.d. Valk), take the exit to the left, towards Wassenaar Zuid.
- This will take you onto van der Oudermeulen Avenue. Here, at the end, turn left onto Stoeplaan.
- Here turn left immediately in the bend to Bloemcamplaan.
- The castle is located between house numbers 55 and 57 on Landgoed de Wittenburg 1.
